Hazing Death at Louisiana State University

 September 2017

A blood alcohol concentration between .25 and .30 is considered alcohol poisoning.

Max Gruver had a reported BAC of .495 resulting in his death. He was fed shot after shot, ‘pull’ after ‘pull’ by a group of older kids each time he incorrectly answered a question.

Had they fed him small amounts of arsenic after each incorrect answer would people react differently to the news?

The result would be the same. They poisoned him.

Why is feeding hard alcohol to a teenager socially acceptable? Because they call it a game? Because they call each other brothers? What sick, deranged sibling would ever allow anyone to feed poison to their younger brother?

Had the fraternity members waterboarded a pledge it would be considered torture. Yet, he would still be alive.

Had the fraternity members fed a pledge rat poison, resulting in his death, it would be considered manslaughter.

Is this behavior - hazing and alcohol poisoning - any less sinister?
